For the thinkers among us, a place to dwell, a bench under a green willow tree, a safe harbour to think.
First step in philosophy is most of the time to think about questions that are so damn basic or complicated you can never ever solve them, so you can have a lot of good time thinking about it and feeling smart. Let me make up some:
1)Who are we?
2)Why are we?
3)Where did we come from?
4)Can something new ever created by men?
5)Do we exist?
6)Is mankind good or evil?
7)What is the most important thing in life?
8)Is there a god? Of what nature is he?
9)What happens after we die?
10)<Insert your question here>
My answers:
1) We're another step in evolution, as special as any other creature on this planet. Though, nature made a mistake in itself, the human will to survive at any cost and the ability to create, think and communicate made us conquer the world, and put it in chains. We're the cardhouse in a thunderstorm, about to break any moment, but magically surviving it all. Yet.
2)There's no reason. It makes us sick, it drives us insane, but it is like that. If you're able to settle with it, you can go forth and become yourself, instead of following a religion or idea. What you can rely on is that you can feel. Fill your life with joy and love, and the reason won't be necessary.
3)See 1). Darwinian Evolution, there was no plan, no idea, just some random mutations that lead to our existance.
4)No, it can't. Let us look at two of the most important laws in physics: The total mass in the universe stays constant, nothing ever appears or vanishes, same goes for force. Assuming that, we're all made of the very same particles that were already there at the big bang, and they'll exist on and on. Even on the molecular levels, things just get reassembled, not really created. If we're moving up in levels, we see the very same, what is a chair but a bunch of wood?
Still, a consoling fact coming from mathematics is that the possible combinations are above any number we could ever imagine, so don't worry to get totally bored some day.
5)I hope so, but I can't know. And I actually don't really care. If we don't exist, I can most likely not do much about it but whining, and good stuff still feels good, so why shouldn't I enjoy my real or non-real life?
6)None of these. Mankind never was a collective, it was a group of individuals only pursueing their own goals. That's not evil, it's natural.
7) Love, friendship, happiness, and most of all, fulfillment. Did you ever do anything that just felt right in every instance? Stay with it, and do it the rest of your life! (Except if it's masturbation, stop fapping and learn something neat.)
8)There's none, as:
If there a good and forgiving one, why does he let us suffer and die?
If there's an evil one, or he doesn't care at all, why should we call him god?
If there's one, but he's not almighty, he's no god.
This is my way of thinking, and religion is probably the most personal thing at all, so don't be offended by this, it's just me.
9)No answer to this. I think something really new will happen, but we can't imagine that, as we only rearrange old stuff in our mind.
10)D'oh, question is non-existant, so I can't answer it. Actually not too philosophical at all.
